the knowing
There is a place along the Texas Gulf Coast that is ripe with memories for me. I have been visiting this flat, marshy stretch of land for many years. When I was a small child, I imagined a near-death experience there when I fell off a pier. Years later, swimming and surfing, I believed I would live forever. Now as was then, I sense an earthly immediacy, alongside a knowing of something more. I see people outside exploring, working, doing, being. It seems they sense it, too, this belonging to the land and sea, and the connection to a greater realm. This body of work is an expression of the tangible alongside the intangible, beyond what can be seen, but what can be felt.
